On Tuesday, Prashant Kishor's Jan Suraj Party (JSP) accused the Nitish Kumar administration of announcing 'financially impractical schemes' ahead of the assembly elections, which they claim will impose a severe burden on the state's economy and are unlikely to be fulfilled.
Party spokesperson Pawan K. Verma informed reporters that the total estimated cost of these promises made by the government is around ₹33,000 crores. He further asserted that the state is already grappling with a debt of ₹4,06,476 crores.
Verma stated, 'The irresponsible NDA government in Bihar is making promises that it cannot fulfill. This is akin to misleading the public.'
He added, 'In a democracy as envisioned in our Constitution, the government is expected to work for five years. However, this administration is resorting to distributing freebies at the last moment as a way to cover up its failures.'
Verma urged the Election Commission and the Supreme Court to take note of the state government's 'reckless actions.' Regarding the defamation notice of ₹100 crores sent to Kishor by JD(U) leader Ashok Chaudhary, he remarked, 'This is a welcome move for them.'
He noted that Chaudhary had no other option but to respond, stating, 'If he had factual answers to our allegations, he would have held a press conference to clarify.'
Verma emphasized that Kishor possesses all the documents and evidence to support his claims, stating, 'This is just the beginning... more significant revelations are on the way.' He also alleged that Nitish Kumar has lost control over his cabinet, claiming that his personality has undergone a drastic change. Once a sharp-minded and principled leader, he is now being exploited by his associates and ministers, who are abusing their power to promote corruption due to his declining health.
